Facts
One lesser-known aspect of the Nobel Prize is the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, which offers a fascinating and interactive look at the history of the prizes and their laureates. While most people are familiar with the prestigious awards themselves, many don't realize that the museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, including personal items, documents, and original works related to the Nobel laureates. What’s particularly unique is that the museum showcases interactive exhibits where visitors can explore the groundbreaking discoveries and achievements that led to the awards. The museum also honors the Nobel’s original vision by featuring the legacy of Alfred Nobel and his enduring influence on science, culture, and peace. Another lesser-known fact is that not all laureates have claimed their prizes. For example, in 1948, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Mahatma Gandhi posthumously, but he was assassinated before he could accept it. There are also instances where laureates have declined the prize, like Le Duc Tho in 1973, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with Henry Kissinger but refused it due to the ongoing conflict in Vietnam.
